Do's and Don'ts for Applying Super Ceramic Coating at Home

Do's:

Don'ts:

Three-Step Ceramic Coating Process for Achieving a Flawless Finish

In order to effectively apply the Super Ceramic Coating, we can break down the process into three simple and straightforward steps. By following these steps, you can ensure a seamless and professional application of the coating, resulting in enhanced protection and a stunning finish for your vehicle.

Step 1: Surface Preparation

To ensure optimal results, it is highly recommended to thoroughly wash and dry your car before applying the ceramic coating. This step is crucial as it allows for the complete removal of any dirt, grime, or other contaminants that may be present on the surface of your vehicle. By taking the time to properly clean your car, you are creating the ideal foundation for the ceramic coating to adhere to, resulting in a longer-lasting and more effective protection for your vehicle.

  1. Wash & Decontamination

    • Start by giving your car a preliminary rinse using a hose with gentle pressure.
    • Proceed with a manual wash using car shampoo, employing the two-bucket method. Let it dry. Our Watermelon foam wash shampoo is expertly designed to break down and remove dirt and contaminants effectively without damaging the paint.
  2. Deciding on Polishing (If the color has faded)

If your car’s paint appears faded, is noticeably damaged, or bears scratches, consider paint correction and a subsequent polish after Step 2 for optimal results.

    • We advise using machine polishing at this juncture to address any minor scratches or imperfections in the car’s clear coat.

    • A gentle buff with a finishing polish will enhance the surface’s brilliance, preparing it for the ceramic coating’s final touch. Exercise caution around trim areas to avoid scuffing or clogging them with polish; consider using tape for protection.

  • IPA Wipedown

    • Thoroughly wipe down the surface using an IPA (isopropyl alcohol) solution. IPA, also known as clinical spirit, is readily available for purchase at any nearby medical store. To create an IPA solution for use on your vehicle, buy a 100% pure IPA solution from your nearest medical store and add 40% water to it. Your IPA solution is now ready! This is for removing any wax or polish residue from the paint surface and preventing it from reacting with the ceramic coating.

Once the above steps are complete, it’s prudent to test the ceramic coating application on a discreet car area to familiarize yourself with the procedure.

Step 2: Applying Super Ceramic Coating

1. Weather Watch: Ensure that there’s no rain or excess moisture in the forecast, especially if you’re working outdoors, as these conditions could interfere with the coating’s curing process.

2. Gather Your Essentials: Ensure you have all necessary items on hand. All below items are included in the Super Ceramic Coating DIY Kit.

  • Gloves
  • Fresh microfiber buffing towel.
  • The applicator block, along with suede cloths.
  • The main act: Super Ceramic Coating. Handle the bottle with care – while it’s robust, it’s not immune to breakage.

Basic Application Steps:

1. Fold a microsuede cloth around the applicator block and dispense 4 or 5 drops of Super Ceramic Coating onto it.

2. Gently spread a thin layer over the car’s surface. Start with horizontal strokes and then switch to vertical ones to ensure uniform coverage. Replenish the cloth with more drops once it feels dry.

3. Allow the coating to settle for 1-5 minutes (duration depends on the ambient temperature). Afterwards, delicately buff off any excess using a separate microfiber cloth or towel. Use minimal pressure and ensure you’ve removed any residues or uneven patches.

Approximate Drying Intervals:

  • 10°C: 4-5 minutes
  • 20°C: 2-3 minutes
  • 25°C+: 1-2 minutes

Systematically move through each section of the vehicle, applying and buffing one part at a time. Once you’ve covered the entire car or motorcycle, let it bask in the sun for about 5 hours to dry properly. You can drive afterward, but it’s wise to steer clear of rain or snow for the next few days. See? Simpler than you thought, right?

Step 3: Post Application

Great job on getting your vehicle ceramic coated!

Welcome to the exclusive group of car enthusiasts who understand the essence of superior car protection. With your vehicle now beautifully ceramic coated, it’s vital to know a few things as it cures. Here’s a rundown:

Weather and Curing Time: Has your vehicle had sufficient time to cure without exposure to moisture or adverse weather? If yes, you’re set. If not, ensure it’s kept sheltered until it’s fully cured.

Water Spotting: After a rain or extended idle period, you might notice some spots left by evaporated rainwater. These are merely surface spots and can be easily rinsed off. The protective layer ensures that these residues don’t bond with the coating.

High Spots: Ensure the coating is evenly applied without any high spots. Inspect closely, preferably with a handheld light, and buff out any discrepancies. If you find a hardened spot, reapply a little Super Ceramic Coating to reactivate it, then buff again.

Water-Beading Effect: After the coating has cured, try the water beading test. It’s impressive to watch the water glide off your car.

Remaining Super Ceramic Coating: A little goes a long way with the Super Ceramic Coating solution. If you have any left, it remains potent for next 1 years when sealed correctly. And if you have an unopened bottle, it’s good to use for a touch-up after about 2 years, lasting up to 5 Years,

Microfiber Cloths: Once the coating dries, it may crystallize and make your microfiber towels stiff. Reusing them can introduce micro-scratches. If the coating hardens them, it’s best to discard. You can always restock from our store.

Additional Layers: If you decide to add more layers to your coating later, treat it like a fresh application. Clean the pre-coated surface thoroughly, ensure no contaminants remain, and reapply as needed.

As car and motorcycle owners, we all want our vehicles to stay in pristine condition, just like the first day we drove them. However, with time and exposure to the environment, the paint on our vehicles begins to fade. This is where ceramic coating comes in. If you’re not familiar with ceramic coating, it’s a protective layer that can be applied to your car or motorcycle’s paint to protect it from damage and keep it looking like new.

Finding a reputable ceramic coating detailer in your area can be a challenge. Many people may not be aware of the cost associated with ceramic coating their vehicle. But it’s important to note that the cost can vary depending on the type of vehicle you have. For example, a motorcycle ceramic coating can cost around 15,000₹ while a car or SUV ceramic coating may range from 30,000₹ to 50,000₹. Ceramic coating is an investment in the longevity and appearance of your vehicle.

What to look for when Choosing Ceramic Coating Application?

Ceramic coating is a type of protective finish for the exterior of vehicles. The process involves applying a liquid polymer by hand, which chemically bonds with the vehicle through a technique known as nano-coating. This creates a strong and durable protective layer on the surface, which can help to prevent damage from environmental factors like UV rays, bird droppings, and tree sap.

  1. Hydrophobic formula: One of the most important features of ceramic coating is its hydrophobic nature. This means that water will be repelled and won’t accumulate on the surface. Snow and ice won’t stick to the surface either.
  2. Mud and dirt repellant: Ceramic coatings work much better than an ordinary paint job because it doesn’t allow water to accumulate on the surface. Moreover, dirt, dust, and mud smoothly slide off the surface, so you need not worry about it when going outside the city.
  3. UV damage protection: Exposing your car to the sun makes the paint fade and look dull. This is caused by the UV rays of the sun, which react with the chemicals and fade the color. When it comes to ceramic coatings, they are UV-proof, which means they will protect your car from UV rays and not let your paint fade away, reducing the process of oxidation.
  4. Long-lasting care: Adding a layer of ceramic coating to your car is like adding an extra layer of protection. The new coating bonds with the molecular structure of your car paint, and it cannot be easily removed, making it last longer, not for months, but for years. However, how long it lasts solely depends on the kind of maintenance that you provide.

Nanocoatings do not change the color of a vehicle’s surface or any appliance to which they are applied. Instead, they enhance the color. Therefore, it is important to ensure that your car or motorcycle’s paint is free from scratches and imperfections before applying the ceramic coating. For a detailed explanation of what ceramic coating is and how it works, you can read this article: Ceramic Coating for Cars: Review & Truth Unleashed.

The Downside of Professional Car Detailing Services

Professional car detailing services come with several drawbacks. Firstly, the high costs associated with these services can be a major deterrent for many car owners, as the expenses can quickly accumulate, particularly for those seeking frequent detailing. Secondly, the time-consuming nature of detailing means that your car may be unavailable for use for an entire day or even longer for more extensive treatments, which can be quite inconvenient for individuals reliant on their vehicles daily. Lastly, the variable quality of service among different detailers poses a risk, as some may deliver exceptional results, while others might leave customers disappointed with subpar outcomes. Consequently, these downsides warrant careful consideration before opting for professional car detailing.

What are the Pros and Cons of DIY Nano Ceramic Coatings?

It basically depends on the amount of work that you are willing to do. When you compare the best A-grade ceramic coatings with the best DIY ceramic coating kits, the quality of each product is undoubtedly based on prep work and application.

It is quite convenient to hand over this task to a professional, but you’ll need to pay a premium price. For some consumers, it only makes sense to go for professionally installed products. However, your comfort levels also matter a lot. So if you want to undertake this task, purchase a high-quality DIY Ceramic Coating Product, which is easy to install and has an exceptional hydrophobic effect. Also, ensure that the production company offers superior customer support with easy-to-follow instructions.

Another option that provides a similar level of hardness and protection as the professionally installed ceramic coating is a high-quality DIY ceramic coating product. The do-it-yourself formula is slightly different from the pro-grade version as it’s designed for easier installation and requires less prep work. However, like the professional product, it has its own set of pros and cons to consider.

Advantages OF DIY Super Ceramic Coating

  • Less Costly: It costs more than $1,000 to get this work professionally done. While on the other hand, a high-quality DIY nano-ceramic coating will cost about 90% less.
  • Superior Hydrophobic Properties: DIY ceramic coatings offer immense shine and hydrophobic properties/
  • Provides the same service in terms of length: On average, the professional, as well as the DIY products, offer approximately the same level of protection for the same period.
  • Exceptional Customer Support: Well, at least from us. You can contact us with any queries you have.

Disadvantages of DIY Ceramic Coating Application

  • It takes effort to prep the vehicle: There is no way to sugarcoat this! If you want great results from any paint protection product, you’ll have to do some prep work in advance. DIY ceramic kits are no different in this aspect, and so it can be labour-intensive. The quality of your paint surface will primarily determine how much prep work would be required.
  • Some inferior products on the market: Like the high and professional-grade coatings, some are better than others. The DIY segment is packed with inferior products with exaggerated claims, so do thorough research before you purchase.

Conclusion:

As mentioned above, it is very easy to DIY ceramic coating. However, it does require a certain amount of care and some preparation. Take out some free time to do it properly, and your car and motorcycles will have the desired layer of protection.

Why Microfiber Washing Mitts Outshine Sponges and Brushes in Car Cleaning https://superceramiccoating.com/why-microfiber-washing-mitts-outshine-sponges-and-brushes-in-car-cleaning/ https://superceramiccoating.com/why-microfiber-washing-mitts-outshine-sponges-and-brushes-in-car-cleaning/#respond Tue, 20 Jun 2023 12:03:44 +0000 http://superceramiccoating.com/https-superceramiccoating-com-why-microfiber-washing-mitts-outshine-sponges-and-brushes-in-car-cleaning/ Car care is an essential ritual for every vehicle owner. The ultimate goal is to maintain a pristine appearance and protect the paint from premature aging. While many tools are at your disposal for car washing, one item stands head and shoulders above the rest: The Microfiber Wash Mitt Cleaning Gloves. This tool has revolutionized car cleaning, superseding traditional washing accessories like sponges and brushes.

Remember, while using wash mitts or sponges, or brushes, it’s crucial to be gentle and use ample soap to prevent causing swirls or scratches on your car’s paint. The soap plays a significant role in dissolving dirt, so the primary function of your mitt is to dispense the soap and guide the suds off the surface with minimal pressure.

In this article, we’ll explore the contrasts between wash mitts, sponges, and brushes and provide suggestions to help you find the optimal type for your car cleaning needs.

Sponges: A Legacy with Downsides

Sponges have been the traditional go-to option for many vehicle owners due to their affordability and accessibility. The design of a sponge, being soft and porous, seems like a good fit for car washing on the surface. However, this is not always the case.

The problem lies in the sponge’s structure. Its flat surface tends to collect dirt, grime, and small particles. As you continue washing your car, this trapped dirt can be dragged across the vehicle’s paint, creating minute scratches known as swirl marks. The damage might not be noticeable at first, but over time, these tiny scratches can accumulate and dull your car’s finish.

Moreover, sponges don’t rinse clean easily, meaning that the dirt and debris from your car can stay embedded in the sponge and potentially cause more damage in subsequent washes.

Brushes: Hard Bristles, Hard Consequences

Brushes, particularly those with hard bristles, present another set of challenges. They are often favored for their ability to scrub away tough dirt and stains. However, their efficiency comes at a cost to your car’s paintwork.

The stiff bristles on most brushes can be overly abrasive, especially on the clear coat that protects your car’s paint. This clear coat is designed to be the frontline defense against weather, UV rays, and other environmental factors. However, it is not invincible and can be damaged by rough handling or harsh materials.

Consistent use of hard-bristled brushes can cause micro-abrasions on the clear coat. This not only dulls the shine of your vehicle but also weakens the coat’s ability to protect the underlying paint. Consequently, your vehicle becomes more vulnerable to the elements, which can cause fading and other forms of paint damage.

Enter the Microfiber Washing Mitt Cleaning Glove.

The Microfiber Advantage

Microfiber Car/Bike Washing Mitt Cleaning Gloves offer a perfect blend of functionality and safety for your vehicle’s paintwork. Made from thousands of ultra-soft microfibers, each acting as a magnet, lifting and trapping dirt particles away from the surface to prevent scratches.

Ceramic Coating vs Ceramic Coating Spray: Which is Better and More Cost-Effective? https://superceramiccoating.com/ceramic-coating-vs-spray-coating/ https://superceramiccoating.com/ceramic-coating-vs-spray-coating/#respond Mon, 27 Feb 2023 12:29:11 +0000 http://superceramiccoating.com/https-superceramiccoating-com-ceramic-coating-vs-spray-coating/ When it comes to protecting your car’s paint job, ceramic coatings and ceramic coating sprays offer two different solutions. But which one is better and more cost-effective? Ceramic coatings are put on as liquids and then hardened, making a layer of protection over the paint. This layer is highly resistant to scratches, UV rays, and other environmental damage. It also adds a glossy finish that can last for years. The downside is that ceramic coatings require careful application and can be expensive.

Ceramic coating sprays, on the other hand, are much easier to apply. But they offer a low level of protection, and the protection won’t last as long. First, let’s understand what ceramic coating is, and then explore the different levels of ceramic coating protection.

So, What Exactly Is Ceramic Coating?

Ceramic coating is a liquid-based solution that forms a protective layer over your car’s paint job. This layer is highly resistant to scratches, UV rays, and other environmental damage. In addition to that, it also adds a glossy finish that can last for years. It is a popular choice for car owners who want to protect their car’s paint job and keep it looking new for as long as possible.

There are two parts to this question. One is ceramic, while the other is coating. So let’s examine them separately.

Ceramic

Ceramics are created by taking “clay” and firing it in a furnace at temperatures exceeding 1000 °C. After the firing process, a glaze is sometimes applied to create a smooth, glossy finish. Depending on the type of clay and firing temperature, different “colours” can be achieved.

Ceramics are found in our everyday lives, from bricks and glass to plates, tiles, and toilets. Also, they can be used for a wide range of things, from high-performance engines and phone lines to heat coatings on the Space Shuttle, aerospace parts, and car paint.

Coating

A coating is a process in which a thin layer of material is applied to the surface of an object to enhance its appearance and provide protection, or lubrication. The material used for coating can be a liquid or a solid, such as paint, plastic, rubber, or metal. So all in all, a ceramic coating is a man-made substance designed to protect or improve the surface it’s applied to. This broad definition can be confusing because it doesn’t say what the coating is good for or what its features are.

Different Types of Ceramic Coatings

This may be the first time you’ve heard of it, but there are various types of ceramic coating for your vehicle, all with different materials, formulations, and application techniques. They can serve as a barrier against acid rain and swirl marks, but they can’t prevent rock chips as a transparent bra would. They are superior to waxes and way superior to spray coatings when it comes to lifespan. All ceramic coatings are intended to protect a car’s paint, wheels, glass, and other parts. They are even more effective than auto wax.

The following are the different materials from which ceramic coatings are made:

Liquid Quartz

Liquid quartz consists of silicon dioxide (SiO2) and other synthetic components. It hardens on a surface and remains hard for a predetermined period of time. Quartz ceramic coatings come in different grades, from 5% SiO2 (used in spray coatings and waterless wash products) to 70–90% SiO2 (found in professional-grade nano-ceramics like our Super Ceramic Coating). The higher the percentage of SiO2, the harder the quartz layer of the coating becomes, and the better it is at providing protection against water, dirt, and other contaminants.

A Polymer Substance

Polymer Substance

Polymers or epoxy are good choices for ceramic coating sprays because they stick well to paint-clear coatings. This bond is created through a spray-and-wipe technique. Polymers stick to porous surfaces, but they don’t get into the tiny bumps that are often on clear coatings, plastics, metals, and glass.

Hybrid Coating

Hybrid Coating

Imagine combining the best of polymer coatings with quartz for enhanced protection. That’s what hybrid ceramic coatings are all about. They are usually applied with a spray or aerosol. These products claim to offer the best of everything, but in reality, they are often cheaply made with low SiO2 percentages and multiple hydrophobic polymers. Are they better than wax or sealant products? It’s hard to say; the jury is still out.

Different Levels of Ceramic Coating Protection

Each type of ceramic coating has its own advantages and disadvantages. Now that we have covered the basics of different ceramic coating formulations let’s take a look at what products are available, the type of protection they offer, and who they are best suited for.

Super Ceramic Coating is the undisputed leader in DIY nano ceramic coatings, with an impressive 80% SiO2 percentage. Professional-grade ceramic coatings need more SiO2 (93%), and only a professional detailer can put them on. Ceramic coatings are put on as liquids and then hardened, making a layer of protection over the paint. This layer is highly resistant to scratches, UV rays, and other environmental damage. It also adds a glossy finish that can last for years. Our customers have consistently given Super Ceramic Coating top marks for its strength, durability, and longevity, lasting as long as 2–5 years.

Ceramic Spray Coating

Ceramic coating sprays, on the other hand, are much easier to apply. Despite the fact that they provide a lesser amount of protection, ceramic coating sprays are much more cost-effective and can be applied by anyone.

These solvent-based sprays contain around 10–14% SiO2, way less than nanoceramic coatings. They can make ceramic coatings last longer and be more durable by giving them a boost. Also, each of these products can be used on its own to protect different surfaces in a reliable way. The hydrophobic properties of these sprays usually last for only a few weeks; however, many consumers opt to apply the product on a monthly or bi-monthly basis.

Hybrid Coating

You can find hybrid sprays on Amazon or Flipkart that have a blend of SiO2 and TiO2 (Titanium Dioxide). Some of these products are a mix of SiO2 and synthetic spray wax. But, if it contains spray wax, it won’t work as well.

The reason is that SiO2 (silica dioxide) is meant to harden and create a flat layer of protection. This is what gives ceramic coatings their hydrophobic properties. When you mix a spray wax or sealant with the SiO2 blend, it decreases the SiO2’s ability to harden and form that layer. So all in all only choose hybrid coatings if you don’t have any other options available to you.

Ceramic Coating vs Ceramic Spray Coating: Which One Should You Choose?

Now let’s get to the real point. Which is the best, or more accurately, which one is best suited for you? It all depends on what you are looking for in a ceramic coating product. Longevity? Fast action? easy to use? price or anything else. For each type of consumer, we recommend the following:

If you are looking for something that lasts longerCeramic Coating!

If you’re looking for long-term protection, a nanoceramic coating is a perfect choice. It protects well and lasts a long time, and you don’t need any special tools to put it on. Its nano-sized particles ensure maximum coverage and protection, giving you peace of mind. If you’re looking for the best bang for your buck, a DIY ceramic coating is a way to go. It’ll last you anywhere from 2 to 5 years. The spray usually costs around ₹700 – ₹1300 for 3 applications on a regular hatchback. If you want it to last, you’ll need to reapply it every 3 months, which works out to 4 bottles every 2 years, or nearly ₹5000. This is why Super Ceramic Coating is an excellent option, and at only 1450 it includes everything you need for a successful application. Plus, it lasts for up to 2–3 years on average, a claim that has been verified by our thousands of customers.

If you want something that is easy to use – Ceramic Spray Coating

If you’re looking for an easy-to-use, sprayable product to protect against dirt, the ceramic spray coating is your best bet. It’s simple to apply and can last up to six months before needing to be reapplied; there’s no need to remove it from the surface. Keep in mind that it won’t layer on top of other applications, so it’s best to use it every three to four months. This is why Super Ceramic Coating is an excellent option, and at only 1450 it includes everything you need for a successful application. Plus, it lasts for up to 2–3 years on average, a claim that has been verified by our thousands of customers.

A matte paint finish stands out and is unique in a world dominated by gloss and sheen. In recent years, the matte appearance has grown significantly. What does a matte paint finish actually mean? Is the paint different, or is it the way it’s applied that generates the matte look? Is it possible to mimic a matte finish or change a glossy finish without having to repaint a car, and are there any materials that look better with a matte surface? Let’s delve deeper into this subject.

What Is Matte Paint?

Matte finish is not paint, but instead a surface coating that can be applied over existing paint or other surfaces. It is usually made up of a combination of materials including resins, waxes and silicone-based emulsions. These components are designed to create a flat, non-reflective surface that has a unique look and feel. A matte finish is different from other finishes because it doesn’t have a shiny look. It looks unique and has become popular recently. When light hits a matte finish, it spreads evenly across the surface instead of reflecting back like glossy paints do. This creates an interesting look that stands out from the crowd. Matte finishes also require less cleaning than glossy ones since they don’t show dirt or smudges so easily. Another advantage of matte paints is that they can be used to mimic the look of other materials. For example, you can use a matte paint to create a wood-like finish or even give metal objects an aged appearance. This can be very useful when it comes to customizing objects or creating unique looks.

The car paint’s surface is coated with a clear coating to give it a glossy appearance. The purpose of a typical clear coat is to cover any holes or small dips left by the paint’s coarse pigment. This results in a surface that is smoother and deeper. This is what gives the gloss appearance. The matte paint job includes a clear coating as well. However, the final coating is left with tiny dimples rather than filling and leveling the uneven paint. As a result, the paint has a dull or matte texture and cannot reflect light. Any paint hue can be “matted,” since the method and kind of transparent coating used will determine how the matte effect is created. However, most of the matte-painted cars from Mercedes, BMW, Aston Martin, and other premium brands are white or black.

What Are The Different Types Of Matte Finish?

Another misconception is the idea that all matte finishes are equivalent. On the other hand, there are several shades of matte paint finishes, each of which has a distinct luster—or lack thereof. In most parts of the world, three different kinds of matte finishes are popular.

True Flat Matte Finish

The True Flat Matte Finish is a kind of matte finish you should get for the ultimate covert appearance. The most typical sort of matte finish is this one. It has the same appearance as when bare metal is covered with a can of flat black spray paint. It tends to have no gloss and is unpolished, gritty, and coarse. A natural flat finish will make shadows, but there will be no reflection when you look at the paint. The biggest issue with a real flat matte finish is that it gives the car a slightly unfinished appearance. Automobile enthusiasts work around this problem by adding accessories to the vehicle, such as wheels, bumpers, grilles, and/or badges, that highlight the matte surface. This is the “blackout” style that auto dealers worldwide are starting to adopt. In this case, the factory will add gloss black accent pieces to the car. This will give the car some contrast while keeping its cool look.

Satin Matte Finish

A satin matte finish is a fantastic place to start if you’re searching for something in the middle of mild and crazy. This combines the best of both worlds for you. Without the reflective qualities that matte is known to generate, it offers the shine of a gloss finish. The majority of factory-direct automotive paint jobs have a satin finish. Even though it might not seem as “stealthy” as the flat matte surface, the satin finish truly pops, especially in natural light or when illuminated by LEDs. Automotive painters can achieve the satin finish by using a clear specially prepared to generate the sheen and reflective blocking. Others swear by spraying the base coat first, then the clear and flat clear combination.

Semi-Gloss Matte Finish

People who want to push the limits of glossy paint coatings should go for the semi-gloss matte. The best way to explain the difference between satin and semi-gloss is to use white plastic and eggshell as an example. Satin is like white plastic, it doesn’t reflect light much and has a smooth, matte look. Semi-gloss is more like eggshell, it reflects light a bit and looks shinier than satin. Semi-gloss paint is a fantastic option for individuals searching for a user-friendly matte because it is not as “high-maintenance” in care and upkeep.

Understanding Matte Finishes: Myths and Facts

As we talked about briefly in the beginning, there are a lot of myths and lies about matte finishes. There are other facts that need to be emphasized as well, though. So, let’s go over some myths and facts about matte finishes, and if you heard any other myths that doesn’t covered here, go ahead and look them up on your own.

  • A Matte Finish Cannot Be Waxed

It’s true. As we discussed above, a matte finish does not have the flat, smooth finish that wax is intended to be applied to. The purpose of using wax is to protect while enhancing the shine of the clear coat/paint combination. You’ll get a slimy mess if you try to apply your dad’s old can of wax on the matte surface.

  • You Must Make Your Own Car Shampoo to Wash a Matte Finish

Some people state that the only method to clean matte finish paint jobs is to make your own homemade concoction, which usually involves combining an acidic substance like vinegar with a detergent like a dish soap. Well, that is not entirely true.

Today’s ready-to-use vehicle shampoos frequently contain wax, primarily used as a lubricant during the washing process. These waxes can and often do leave behind a residue that gets “buffed” into the paint surface as it dries. Using this kind of wax on a matte finish clear coat will ruin the look and appearance, as we stated above. But don’t go out and apply the detergent or some vinegar thought. In actuality, combining vinegar, which is pH negative or acidic, with detergents, which are pH positive or a stronger base, only serves to further damage the finish.

Several car shampoos are available in the market that is wax-free and pH-neutral (which is kind to all automotive surfaces), like our own Foam Wash Shampoo. This lets you gently wipe away dirt, grime, and other debris without leaving a wax layer or what some people might consider a subpar matte sealant. It is important to avoid using automatic car wash facilities if your car has a matte finish. There, vehicle soap is always wax-enhanced, which won’t work well with your matte finish. Additionally, it is not a good idea to wash your vehicle there if it has metallic paint.

  • Repairing Scratches and Cuts on a Matte Finish is Almost Impossible

Unfortunately, THIS IS TRUE. The durability and susceptibility to scratches and paint chips of matte finishes are identical to those of standard gloss paint jobs. However, the matte finish of the car is more difficult to fix than the gloss clear coat, which may be easily buffed during paint correction. In fact, if the finish is damaged, extensive repair is typically required. Even a small stain from bird droppings that is neglected for too long can cost thousands of rupees to fix.

  • Without a Clear Coat, Matte Paint is Just Normal Paint

Absolutely not. In rare instances, an aftermarket matte paint job might not have a clear coat, but if you get it from the manufacturer, it will undoubtedly have one. Actually, the clear coat’s minuscule flaws and “dimples” are what give factory matte paint its flat appearance. Make sure a matte clear coat was applied over the pigment layer of paint if you had a third party paint your automobile or motorcycle matte in a booth. Let me assure you. You will regret it if you don’t have a clear coat.

Taking Care of a Matte Finish

Let’s say if you spend money on a matte finish; it only makes sense to safeguard it from harm. Make it easier to clean, and maintain the matte’s appearance.  How can a matte finish be protected if you can’t use car wax and paint sealants aren’t all that great? There is one excellent possibility that you should think about.

A Professional-Grade Matte DIY Ceramic Coating

A nano-ceramic coating like Matte Ceramic Coating DIY Kit is a superb solution to safeguard and improve the appearance of your matte finish without adding gloss or creating a shiny impression. By filling up those minute flaws with a clear but incredibly durable layer of quartz or glass, the matte ceramic coating is designed and made to adhere directly to the clear matte clear coating. The ceramic coating then creates an incredibly flat layer after curing. With each extra layer of coating, that defense becomes stronger, improving the defensive qualities without raising the shine. The matte surface stands out because it draws attention to what is behind that layer. The ceramic coat is then given a top coat, which creates an ultra-slick surface. It makes it less likely that things like water, dirt, bug guts, tree sap, and other sticky things will stick to the coating. This process creates hydrophobic qualities, which prolong the time the vehicle appears cleaner. Additionally, it makes washing your vehicle an easier task. How To Properly Clean And Maintain Microfiber Cloths https://superceramiccoating.com/how-to-properly-clean-and-maintain-microfiber-cloths/ https://superceramiccoating.com/how-to-properly-clean-and-maintain-microfiber-cloths/#respond Mon, 16 Jan 2023 11:37:29 +0000 http://superceramiccoating.com/https-superceramiccoating-com-how-to-properly-clean-and-maintain-microfiber-cloths/ Microfiber cloths are not your typical fluffy washcloths; they are powerful cleaning workhorses. Microfiber cloths are different from cotton or nylon in that they have thousands of microscopic fibers. One square inch of microfiber cloth can have up to 200,000 fibers. These small fibers are what make microfiber cloths so effective at collecting and retaining dirt, grime, and liquid without the need for detergent or water. Therefore, it is important to properly clean and dry microfiber cloths after every use.

The quality of even the best microfiber cleaning cloths depends on how well you maintain them. You can’t just throw a microfiber cloth in the washing machine and expect it to come out clean. In this article, we’ll show you how to clean your microfiber cleaning cloths in between uses so that you always have clean ones on hand.

Things to Keep an Eye Out For When Washing Microfiber Cloths

  • Avoid using fabric softeners, as they clog the microfiber’s pores and render the material unusable.
  • Use caution when washing anything else with microfiber. Any item made of cotton should be avoided because to the microfiber’s tendency to attract and hold onto lint.
  • If you must mix loads, choose other synthetics that don’t shed lint instead of cotton or wool.
  • Like with any other laundry chore, sort your white or light microfiber from your dark microfiber before washing.

Hand Washing Microfiber Cloths

Time needed: 16 minutes

  1. Before you wash them, give them a good shake.

Before washing the Microfiber cloths, take them outside and shake off the excess dust and dirt. This makes sure that they won’t be mixed up with your washing water.

  2. Wash in warm water

The cloth should be washed by hand in warm water using a detergent that does not have any added fragrances or softeners. When doing laundry, use as little detergent as possible. A few people argue that you shouldn’t use any detergent at all.

  3. Hand scrubbing

Scrub any heavily stained areas by hand. It may take some time, but you should keep at it.

  4. Let it soak

After scrubbing the stains by hand, let the cloth soak for 15 to 20 minutes before agitating again.

  5. Rinse thoroughly

Wring out excess water after washing and rinsing the towel in running water.

Machine Washing Microfiber Cloths

Time needed: 20 Minutes

1. Shake off the excess dust and dirt

Like we said before with hand washing, shake off the excess dust and dirt outside.

2. Do not use hot water

Use cold or warm water, but never hot, in the washing machine. By not using hot water, the electric charge of the clothes can be preserved while the dirt and filth are washed away.

3. Use only a mild amount of detergent

If you must use detergent, pick one that is mild and free of added scents or laundry additives. Put in no more than two teaspoons of detergent. Put a tablespoon of white vinegar into the wash if the microfiber towels have a bad smell that has to be removed.

4. Let the washing continue

Let your washing machine run for half the running cycle. Let the clothes soak for 15–20 minutes, then restart the washing cycle and let it finish.

5. Shake out the wrinkles

It’s best to get the wrinkled fabric out of the washing machine as soon as possible and give it a good shake.

How To Properly Dry Microfiber Cloths

It’s not enough to simply wash your microfiber cleaning cloths. Microfiber cloths need to be dried properly to ensure they retain their charge and stay lint-free for as long as possible.

Microfiber cloths dry fastest when hung in direct sunlight or airflow. Don’t dry them in the dryer; doing so will drastically impair the microfiber’s effectiveness.

If you must dry your clothes in a machine, do it carefully. If you want your microfiber towels to come out of the dryer looking as wonderful as they did when you washed them, strictly follow these guidelines:

  • You can prevent the microfiber from attracting extra lint by clearing the lint trap.
  • It’s important to sort clothes before drying them. Towels made of microfiber material can be washed independently. Microfiber will collect lint from other fabrics if you dry them in the dryer with microfiber.
  • Choose a low-heat setting.
  • Put it in the dryer without a dryer sheet and let it dry. Dryer sheets of the highest quality might nevertheless clog the towel’s fibres, reducing the towel’s absorbency.
  • Once the drying is complete, take them out immediately and don’t ever iron anything. The fibres will melt if they are overheated.

Tips To Maintain Your Microfiber Cloths

If you want to keep your microfiber cloths in good condition, shake them after each use to release dust and grime, and then wash them in warm or cold water. Keep microfiber cleaning cloths in a designated container, away from other cleaning cloths or such materials. Cleaning chemicals should not be used with microfiber cloths, and use only the bare minimum amount of chemicals if necessary. Many types of microfibers may be cleaned with just water. Clothes made of microfiber should never be ironed, as the high heat could melt the fibres.

What is PPF (Paint Protection film)? which is better PPF or ceramic coating? Exploring the Benefits, Drawbacks and Best Practices! https://superceramiccoating.com/what-is-paint-protection-film-which-better/ https://superceramiccoating.com/what-is-paint-protection-film-which-better/#comments Fri, 16 Dec 2022 10:30:44 +0000 http://superceramiccoating.com/https-superceramiccoating-com-what-is-paint-protection-film-which-better/

Table of contents

When it comes to protecting your vehicle from the elements, you have plenty of options. From waxes and sealants to ceramic coatings and paint protection films (PPF), you can choose from a wide range of products that offer varying levels of protection. One question many people ask is: can I apply ceramic coating over PPF? In this blog post, we’ll explore the benefits, drawbacks, and best practices of doing so.

Paint Protection Film has been gaining significant prominence recently. The thickest layer of defence is a polymer or polyurethane film that is incredibly strong despite being quite thin. In addition to keeping your vehicle’s clear coat safe against chemicals, UV rays, acid rain, and road debris, it can save you hundreds of dollars in autobody repair if the paint is damaged by road debris.

The internet is a wealth of knowledge regarding paint protection film. Some of it is true, while other parts are complete, grade A BS. If you look up the ceramic coating, you’ll find similar false information. Let’s investigate the reality behind paint protection film. Does it actually offer scratch protection? Can PPF really cure itself? In this article, we will dispel myths, rumours, and outright false information about paint protection films.

What Is Paint Protection Film?

It’s vital to understand paint protection film’s history to properly understand its potential. PPF, like many contemporary innovations, was created to address a specific issue. During the Vietnam War, the United States Department of Defense experienced issues with shrapnel, trees, and other debris damaging the rotor blades on several of their helicopters. The engineers at 3M were charged with developing a protective layer that was both thin and sturdy. The remedy was known as helicopter tape or a custom urethane film made for function rather than aesthetics.

The PPF of today is a far cry from the 3M helicopter tape. It is a translucent, colourable, and even custom-textured thermoplastic urethane that can be used to enhance glossy or matte paint jobs. It is a transparent paint protection film that can be bought in various grades and thicknesses and is applied by skilled experts with accuracy and precision. In fact, modern paint protection film offers several advantages, such as:

  • Resistant to pollutants and acidic corrosion (like bug guts and bird droppings)
  • Defends a painted surface against mineral deposits, acid rain, and gentle and hard water stains
  • Reduces UV-induced oxidation of factory paint
  • Impedes the impact of small rocks, gravel, tree branches, and other sharp items on painted surfaces.
  • If a protective coating is scratched or hit, it will eventually heal.
  • Lasts for up to 10+ years

The Science Of Paint Protection Film!

Let’s go technical now. The majority of vehicle paint protection films share a similar basic foundation. It is divided into four distinct layers:

  1. Clearcoat: Clear coat is a protective layer that is applied over the basecoat of paint on a vehicle. It is a clear resin-based coating that provides a layer of protection to the underlying paint and helps give the vehicle a glossy finish. It has a thickness of 0.5 mils (0.0132mm). All paint protection products are applying above the clear coat.
  2. Polyurethane: Polyurethane makes up the majority of PPF. This is 6.0 mils thick and gives the paint protection film strength and depth (0.152mm).
  3. Acrylic Adhesive: The acrylic adhesive is the layer below. It is slightly thinner, 1.6 mils thick (or 0.040mm). This provides the strength of the adhesion.
  4. Polyester Release Liner:  The polyester release liner serves as the PPF’s base layer. It has a thickness of around 3.0 mils, or 0.076mm. The substance that creates the binding to the vehicle surface is exposed once removed.

What Kinds Of Paint Protection Films Are There?

There are three main types of paint protection film: self-healing, permanent, and optically clear. Self-healing films are the most popular type because they’re relatively easy to install, last for several years with proper care, and can repair themselves when exposed to heat or intense sunlight. Permanent films provide greater protection than self-healing films but require regular maintenance to keep them looking their best. Optically clear paint protection film is the most expensive option. It creates a barrier that is almost invisible and keeps contaminants from getting into your car’s paint and damaging it. This type of film also requires frequent cleaning to maintain its clarity and effectiveness. Depending on the size of your vehicle, you may need several rolls of film to cover the entire body. No matter which type you choose, be careful when installing and taking care of your paint protection film to make sure it works and lasts.

What Distinguishes PPF and Vinyl From One Another?

Another misunderstanding is the distinction between vinyl, commonly known as a vinyl wrap, and paint protection film, or PPF. PPF and vinyl are both popular options when it comes to protecting your vehicle’s paint job. While they may have similar applications, they differ in a few key ways. PPF is an optically clear film that is made of high-grade polyurethane and often used on cars as protection against chips, scratches and other environmental damage. It can be applied directly to the car’s paint, forming a protective layer. Vinyl, on the other hand, is a thicker material that can be used to customize your vehicle’s look and feel. It comes in many different colors, patterns, textures and finishes and can easily be removed when desired. Both PPF and vinyl offer great protection for your vehicle, but PPF is the better choice if you want to maintain the original look and feel of your car. It’s also much more durable than vinyl and will last longer in harsh conditions. Additionally, PPF can be reapplied in case it starts to wear off or gets damaged. Vinyl, however, cannot be easily repaired if it gets damaged. Ultimately, both PPF and vinyl offer great protection for your vehicle, but it’s important to know the differences between them in order to choose the best option for your needs. Here is a real-world illustration. The picture on the right side shows a car with an extremely amazing vinyl wrap. It is a branded vinyl applied over a particular vehicle’s factory paint. It resembles a “sticker” but it also shields the paint below from damage.

How to install PPF Installation? can you apply it at home?

Yes, it is possible to apply paint protection film (PPF) at home, but it can be a challenging and time-consuming process. If PPF is installed incorrectly, it will be visible even with just one small blemished area. The integrity of the film will also be compromised. Incorrect installation can even leave vulnerable areas of the vehicle exposed to hazards. Your best option is to have a certified installer do your installation work.

To apply paint protection film at home, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • A roll of PPF
  • A spray bottle filled with soapy water
  • A squeegee or hard plastic card
  • A sharp blade or knife
  • A heat gun or hair dryer

Here are the steps to apply paint protection film at home:

  1. Clean the surface of the car thoroughly, making sure to remove any dirt, dust, or debris.
  2. Measure and cut the PPF to the desired size, using a sharp blade or knife.
  3. Spray the surface of the car with soapy water to help the film adhere to the surface.
  4. Peel the backing off the PPF and position it on the surface of the car.
  5. Use a squeegee or plastic card to smooth out the film and remove any air bubbles.
  6. Use a heat gun or hair dryer to soften and stretch the film, if necessary.
  7. Trim any excess film with a blade or knife.

Keep in mind that applying paint protection film requires a steady hand and a lot of patience. It can be difficult to get the film to lay flat and remove all the air bubbles, and it is important to work slowly and carefully to avoid making mistakes. If you are not confident in your ability to apply the film properly, it may be best to have it installed professionally. The success or failure of a PPF depends on proper preparation, installation, and aftercare, just like any other paint protection solution. Although each manufacturer’s installation procedure is distinct, the process generally involves the following steps:

Step 1 – Preparation for the Installation of Paint Protection Film

A PPF must be glued to a surface to provide protection. This is only made possible when that surface is spotless, damage-free, and debris-free. However, because a paint protection layer is transparent, the paint’s state or surface below significantly impacts how brilliant the final product will be. Along with this, also perform the below procedures before the application.

  • A decontaminating car wash
  • Paint correction
  • Final Wipe Panel Wipe Down

Step 2 – Cutting The Material In Advance

There are two different ways to apply the PPF. A plotter or other device that pre-cuts the material into smaller, precisely sized parts, such as fender or door edges, is used by most professional PPF installers.

This saves money for the client and the installer, reduces waste, and, of course, conserves resources. Additionally, it is essential to speed up PPF installation and improve fit in narrow areas like door jambs, headlamps, and grilles.

The second technique employs bulk film. Basically, it’s utilised when an installer doesn’t have a plotter; nonetheless, it usually results in excess material being used, more time is required, and a less precise or accurate installation.

These issues can be reduced when employed by a skilled installer. Some are so outstanding that they can be manually cut to suit spoilers, side mirrors, the hood, deck lid, and rocker panels, among other things.

Step 3 – Fitting

The installer will pre-fit the automobile protection film to verify correctness. The market for paint protection film is flooded with numerous manufacturers and installation methods, such as a clear bra that simply covers the front of the car. The painstaking and precise technique of attaching the transparent bra to the painting ensures that the material will fit each piece and link or merge with one another with minimal gaps.

While this does extend the overall procedure’ duration a little, it will ultimately protect the paintwork and other portions of the car from rock chips and minor scratches, which can be quickly repaired with self-healing PPF.

Step 4 – Spraying The Fitting Solution

A fitting solution is an activator that enables the transparent bra or PPF to adhere to the surface. Spraying this substance over the painted surface and on top of the PPF activates the adhesive, which essentially functions as glue and binds firmly to the surface.

Once more, each brand of PPF has suggested properties for the appropriate solution, some of which can range from pure water to chemically-activated chemicals. This aids in its adhesion to a car’s paintwork, which helps to block UV radiation, oxidation, corrosion, and, eventually, the growth of rust.

Step 5 – The Final Fit and Application

The magic happens at this point. The skilled PPF installer will precisely fit the PPF by gliding it. It involves fitting, spraying, moving, squeezing bubbles, and other steps. The installer will use a squeegee to smooth down any wrinkles or bubbles in the PPF once it is in its precise position. The PPF clear bra offers great sealant or surface protection on the automobile’s exterior once it has bonded to the paint surface, especially against a scratch, bird dropping, or rock chip.

Step 6 – Drying

Drying is the last step in installing a transparent bra or PPF. There are several ways to do this, either by employing a particular drying method or over time. Most professional PPFs are heat-activated by being placed in a heat chamber or using a heat gun. A very tight fit is produced by restricting the material and, in essence, activating the “glue.”

What Is The Lifespan Of Paint Protection Film?

The lifespan of paint protection film (PPF) can vary depending on a number of factors, including the quality of the film, the type of maintenance it receives, and the conditions in which it is used. In general, high-quality PPF can last for several years with proper care.

Some manufacturers of PPF claim that their products can last for up to 10 years or more, while others may only offer a limited warranty of a few years. It’s worth noting that the lifespan of PPF can also be affected by factors such as the amount of sunlight and heat it is exposed to, as well as the frequency with which it is washed and waxed.

To get the most out of your PPF, it is important to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for care and maintenance. This may include washing and waxing the film regularly to keep it clean and clear, and repairing any damage that may occur. If you notice any signs of wear or discoloration, it may be time to consider having the film replaced.

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Paint Protection Film

We’re here to present facts, not smoke and mirrors. And it’s still true that not everyone should use paint protection film. Although it’s a terrific way to lessen scuffing, rock chips, and other surface damage, there are certain advantages and disadvantages to consider too.

Advantages Of Paint Protection Film

  • Protection: The primary benefit of PPF is its ability to protect the paint on your vehicle from damage. It can help to prevent chips and scratches caused by road debris, as well as protect against fading and discoloration due to exposure to the sun and other elements.
  • Durability: PPF is designed to be durable and long-lasting, and can help to preserve the appearance of your vehicle for many years. With proper care and maintenance, high-quality PPF can last for several years or more lasting up to 10 years or longer when paired with a high-quality PPF nano ceramic coating.
  • Ease of maintenance: Because PPF is applied to the surface of the paint, it can help to keep the paint underneath looking newer for longer. This means that you may not need to wax or polish your vehicle as often, which can save you time and effort.
  • Customization: PPF can be applied to specific areas of a vehicle, such as the hood, fenders, and bumper, allowing you to customize the level of protection to your needs. It can also be applied to non-traditional surfaces, such as the headlights or grille, to protect them from damage.
  • Resale value: By protecting the paint on your vehicle, PPF can help to preserve the resale value of your car or truck. A well-maintained vehicle with a preserved paint job is often more attractive to potential buyers.
  • Improved engineering and technology compared to earlier generations: no yellowing and increased hydrophobicity.

Disadvantages Of Paint Protection Film

There are a few potential disadvantages to using paint protection film (PPF) on your vehicle:

  • Cost: PPF can be expensive, especially if you have a large vehicle or want to cover a significant portion of it. The cost of installation can also vary depending on the complexity of the job and the location of the shop.
  • Maintenance: PPF requires regular maintenance to keep it looking its best. This includes washing and waxing the film to keep it clean and clear, as well as repairing any damage that may occur.
  • Discolouration: Over time, PPF can become discolored or yellowed due to exposure to the sun and other elements. This can be especially noticeable on darker-colored vehicles, and can be difficult to remove.
  • Limited coverage: PPF is typically only applied to certain areas of a vehicle, such as the hood, fenders, bumper, and mirrors. This means that other areas of the car, such as the doors and side panels, may still be vulnerable to chips and scratches.

It’s worth noting that these disadvantages are not unique to PPF and can also apply to other types of protective coatings or films. If you are considering using PPF on your vehicle, it’s important to weigh the potential benefits and drawbacks carefully before making a decision. PPF is expensive; there is no way to sugarcoat this. It represents a financial investment in the calibre and condition of your car. Working with a PPF-certified dealership or approved detailer is always recommended.

Let’s Talk About Clear Bra

A clear bra is a dedicated paint protection film that is applied to the front of a car, truck, SUV, or motorcycle. It is a technologically advanced polyurethane substance that adheres to metal, plastic, aluminium, Chrome, and even headlamp covers. It is put on the car’s front end, covering the front bumper, the paint, the grille, the headlights, the splitter, and even the front part of the hood and front fenders. The application’s location is referred to as the “bra.”

Back in the supposed good old days, it was typical for auto enthusiasts to cover the front of the car with leather or a durable vinyl-based material to achieve the same result: to protect the vehicle paint.

Benefits of Applying Ceramic Coating on PPF

There are several potential benefits to applying ceramic coating on top of paint protection film (PPF):

  1. Increased Depth and Shine: When a nano-ceramic coating dries, it becomes a thin layer of glass that is just as robust as quartz, increasing depth and shine. This enhances the paint’s brilliance beneath the PPF, increasing the depth of the paint below, whether it has a gloss or matte finish.
  2. Enhances Hydrophobic Properties: “hydrophobic” refers to a surface’s capacity to repel water. In addition to creating optically cool water shedding and beading, it also lessens the likelihood that dust, pollen, and other impurities will stick. If you hate pigeons, for instance, and one of them leaves a deuce on your car, a ceramic-coated PPF makes it easy to clean up the mess.
  3. Increased Lifespan: By applying ceramic coating on top of paint protection film, the coating becomes more durable and resilient while retaining the PPF’s ability to heal itself.
  4. Easy maintenance: Ceramic coatings are known for their ability to repel water and dirt, which can make them easier to maintain than traditional waxes or sealants. When applied on top of PPF, a ceramic coating can help to keep the film looking clean and clear, even after regular washing and drying.

Our Final Verdict On PPF

On the market, there are as many different types of paint protection film as there are grades of car wax, ceramic coatings, and paint sealants. Consider the following if you’re thinking about investing in a top-notch PPF.

Complete due diligence: Before making any significant purchases, ensure you’ve researched the item you’re considering. This is especially true for individuals who apply paint protective film.

Does the PPF Deliver What It Promises: As a sector, the PPF is less subject to tricks and marketing buzzwords. To make sure PPF performs as the manufacturer says, it’s crucial to confirm through third-party reviews and research into the technology employed in it.

Instant Healing PPF: The capacity of paint protection film to repair itself after minor damage or scratches is arguably its strongest feature. Make sure your PPF is an instant healing one. If you have to take your vehicle to the installer every time you get a small scratch, this will increase your overall expense and add time.

In conclusion, paint protection film is an excellent way to protect your vehicle’s paint from dirt, debris, and scratches. With the right PPF and ceramic coating combination, you can create a barrier that will give your car a showroom-like shine for years to come. Before investing in any type of paint protection film, be sure to do your due diligence to make sure you get the best product for your money. Necessary Precautions That Should Be Taken!

We must keep a few crucial components in mind to prioritise your safety first! It is required to use safety clothing, nitrile gloves, and breathing equipment. The next step is to work in a prepared environment. Ceramic coatings should be applied in a confined space with good ventilation, a temperature of around 20 degrees, and a relative humidity of about 60%. Remember to not re-use the towels you used to buff off with on paint. You can begin to consider the independent application if you have satisfied all of these conditions.

Adequate surface preparation is a crucial stage in the application of ceramic coating. You will find detailed instructions that will walk you through the surface preparation process with our ceramic coating package.

Application Procedure

If you want to read about every aspect of the ceramic coating application procedure in detail, then I would recommend you read our How To Apply Super Ceramic Coating blog post. But here’s a brief synopsis of every step in the application procedure.

Step 1: Wash your vehicle thoroughly, let it dry and ensure it’s completely clean.

Step 2: Unbox the super ceramic coating kit and wrap the provided cloth over the sponge.

Step 3: Apply a few drops of Super ceramic coating liquid to the applicator and wipe vertically and horizontally on a 1.5 to 2 sq ft area.

Step 4: Buff the applied part with a microfiber cloth within 1.5–2 minutes after the application.

Step 5: Repeat this procedure on the entire vehicle.

Make sure to finish coating the entire vehicle once you start the process.

Common Mistakes You Should Avoid

  • It will be challenging to coat a car when the air temperature is below 4.4° Celsius since the curing process will be too slow. Too much time spent on it will render the ceramic coating ineffective.
  • Coating a car in high-humidity can slow curing and often results in an oily finish due to moisture in the air.
  • The excessive coating is also rather common, and this causes a coating that looks greasy and won’t cure correctly.
  • Ceramic coating will be destroyed sooner than you can say “smells like rain” if it is exposed to moisture too early. Exposure to moisture like rain, dew, or mist, or testing the hydrophobic qualities before full drying can compromise the quality of a vehicle’s ceramic coating.
  • It is essential to complete all the necessary prep work before applying a layer of ceramic coating. Skipping these processes or attempting to cut corners will result in various problems. This is fundamentally sound car care advice, so clean thoroughly and don’t expect that taking shortcuts will produce fruitful results.
  • Don’t ever apply ceramic coating under direct sunlight. Never move the car outside into the sun until 24 hours after applying the coating.
  • Another major no-no is applying a ceramic coating to a hot surface. Nevertheless, impatient people continue to attempt to use this product too soon, frequently after driving the car or after it has been sitting in the hot sun.
  • Our Super Ceramic Coating will take up to a week to completely heal, but only 48 hours are needed before driving the car. However, that is the bare minimum. Cut that cure period short and take a cruise while your ceramic coating is still setting may give unexpected results.

Summary

Our DIY ceramic coating has simple and straightforward procedures that anyone can do, even if you are completely new to the coating world. But even after reading all this, if you are still doubtful or not confident about applying the coating yourself, you can buy the coating from our website and contact a nearby car polishing center to apply the coating for you. Like most vehicle owners, you want to keep your car or motorcycle looking as good as new for as long as possible. But keeping it polished and waxed can be a hassle. That’s where ceramic coating comes in. Ceramic coating is a protective sealant that bonds with your car’s paint, providing protection from environmental calamities. It also makes polishing and waxing much less necessary, saving you time and money in the long run.

Ceramic coatings are advanced coating protection that offers many advantages over conventional sealants and waxes. Ceramic coatings are inorganic compounds, making them much more resistant to corrosion. They also have a low friction coefficient, making them ideal for use in high-wear areas such as vehicles’ front bumper, hood, fenders, and rocker panels. In addition, ceramic coatings can be applied to various surfaces, including metal, glass, plastic, fibre and glass. As a result, they are an ideal solution for protecting surfaces from rock chips, scratches, and other road debris. This blog will discuss some of the most common uses of Ceramic Coatings, which make them an essential part of your vehicle.

Thermal Barrier Protection From UV Rays

Before and After UV rays impact

The hot sun can make your car look bad. It attacks the paint clear coat left in its path, damaging it through oxidation and making the paint dull or fade after prolonged exposure to UV rays, which causes various problems, including rusting in a brief period! Thankfully there are ceramic coatings for protecting against this damage by limiting temperature increases, so you don’t have anything happen to your precious vehicle.

The best part about these products? They work great even when exposed to metal surfaces operating near1200°F (650°C).

Makes Your Vehicle Age Like A Fine Wine

Keeps your decade-old vehicle as good as new.

Ceramic coating is a great way to protect your car from damage while still looking good. Ceramic coatings offer more than just protection; they also maintain the glossiness of your paint for longer.
Cars treated with this type tend not to be as prone to dirt build-up or brake dust, making them easier to clean periodically (or whenever) without having too much work on hand compared to traditional waxing options.

Preventing Your Vehicle From Rusting

Protect your precious vehicle from rusting

Corrosion is the natural process by which an electrolyte, anode, and cathode combine to form a bond. It speeds up the rusting process through exposure to harmful elements on any component. Suppose there are scratches or damages in your car’s paint job due to its constant exposure. In that case, each layer will deteriorate until it reaches bare aluminium, where corrosion begins and finally produces rust! This is where Ceramic Coating comes in!

Ceramic coating is a super-concentrated, liquid polymer that seeps into your car’s surface and creates an ultra-smooth hydrophobic finish. The semi-permanent protective layer formed after application blocks UV rays from penetrating through to the clear coat, protecting against contaminants from encountering metal and causing corrosion!!

Protection From Bird Doodoos!

It happens more than you think.

As a vehicle owner, have you ever felt like birds are targeting your vehicle all the time, even when you cannot spot a bird for miles while you park? Let’s get this clear; it’s just worst for one; you cannot wash it immediately if there are loads of them, and then you have to drive with it through the public for miles.

The acid in bird droppings is enough to turn even the freshest coats of paint into a honeysuckle nightmare. This isn’t just because it burns through and stains everything but also because bacteria lurk beneath it! A pH balance as low as 3.5–4 will cause even protection layers on newer cars (or any other surfaces)to wear away within a few weeks.

Ceramic coatings are the ultimate way to keep your car clean, blemish-free, and protected against bad birds. They make removal easy and prevent acidity from seeping through, which would be devastating for any paintwork on a vehicle!

Protection From Acid Rain

Not all rains are good!

Acid rain is a deadly and destructive force that can be felt far beyond the Earth’s surface. It begins when compounds like sulfur dioxide or nitrogen oxides are released into our atmosphere, which reacts with water vapour in high layers of clouds to form more acidic pollutants known as acid rain.

The result? Acid rains are the “world’s worst ecological disaster!”

Acid rain can cause severe damage to your car’s paint, including fading and peeling. The acid in this environment eats away at the metal surfaces, making it difficult for new layers to build up on top, eventually leading clear coat to become worn by exposing raw aluminium beneath! If you live by any bodies Of water, such as oceans or rivers, rest assured knowing that salt from dew and rain also causes damage to your vehicle’s paint.

Ceramic coatings are an excellent way to protect your car from the many hazards of driving on the roads. Like the things mentioned earlier, such as bird pooping, rusting, scratching, and even acid rains! You can use those deep glosses on windshields, too. It also helps with scratching.

Hydrophobic In Nature, Thus Easy Cleaning

The ceramic coating looks good on your car and is also durable. You can wash and wax without worrying about the polymer wearing off because ceramic repels water, so all dirt will bead before sliding off! A quick jet wipe down with a towel gives you spotless paint that’s ageless, too, since this material does not require polish like other types. Just sprinkle the water and wipe it off; it’s that easy with Ceramic Coating.
